Efficacy and Safety of Phentermine/Topiramate in Adults with Overweight or Obesity: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

Objective The study objective was to examine the association between phentermine/topiramate therapy and weight loss adverse events in adults with overweight or obesity by meta-analysis systematic review. Methods Medical Subject Headings free-text terms were selected search for eligible trials PubMed, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), Embase up April 18, 2020. quality randomized controlled evaluated risk-of-bias tool. Meta-analysis performed using random-effect models. Results Phentermine/topiramate resulted an average 7.73 kg (95% CI: 6.60-8.85) general compared placebo. related dose phentermine/topiramate. Conclusions has considerable benefit reducing body weight, efficacy closely dosage. However, it increased risk nervous system-related events.
